Private events & Birthday parties


Our birthday parties and private events are currently being offered at 11:00am and 2:30pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

Your private event / party begins with an hour-long interactive presentation of live animals followed by your celebration or meeting in our reception room. You get to choose the animals! The adjoining reception room is a great place to host party games or host a meeting and serve refreshments after the program.

We are offering private events for groups of 25 people or less. All participants must be 7 years of age or older.

Are programs available for children under the age of 7? For the comfort of our animals, age 7 the youngest age that we can accommodate.

What days and times are available for events? With limited staff availability, we are currently offering private events on Saturday and Sunday at 11:00am and 2:30pm only. We are also able to accommodate university or office events on weekdays as well.

How do I reserve the date for my party? After you submit an inquiry and we confirm your animal list and date with you, payment in full is required to reserve your date.

Is the facility easy to find? Yes, we are kitty-corner from the Saline Fairgrounds (a.k.a. the Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds) on the northwest corner of Ann Arbor-Saline Road and Pleasant Lake Road. Private events are held in our Education Center, the farmhouse building at the end of the paved parking lot. The address is 4940 Ann Arbor-Saline Road.

Can we bring food? You are welcome to bring refreshments from home or have food delivered or catered. The reception room has a refrigerator with a freezer to keep your items cold during the presentation. You may arrive a half hour before your event's start time to decorate, refrigerate your food items, or set up other refreshments. 

What is the reception room like? The reception room is a warm, inviting space that adjoins the presentation room. Please refer to the above photo.

Can we decorate the room? Yes, you will have access to the room a half-hour before your presentation if you would like to decorate: tablecloths, table decorations, streamers, etc. are welcome. No wall decorations, balloons, glitter or confetti, please.

Can we see the event space prior to scheduling an event? Yes, please email or call us to arrange a time to stop by and take a brief tour.

How long does our event last? Your event may last up to 2 hours. It will begin with the animal presentation and is followed by your celebration/meeting in the reception room. 

Are there restrooms available? Yes, a men's and a women's room that are both handicap accessible are available.

Is parking available? Yes, there is ample parking right in front of the building. 

Is the building handicap accessible? Yes, the presentation rooms are on the ground floor and the sidewalk is ramped from the parking lot to the door. 

What is the cost for an event? Fees vary depending on the animals you select for your program. Click on the “Submit an Inquiry” button to see the animal list and available packages. We will call to confirm the details. Once final arrangements have been made, payment in full is required to reserve your date.

What is your cancellation policy? If you cancel more than three weeks before the event, you will receive a full refund; 3 weeks prior you will receive a 50% refund. Canceling within a week of your event will not allot a refund. If your party needs to be postponed, we can accommodate one change of date (contingent on calendar availability). If a secondary date cannot be finalized or honored, we will refund 50% of the program fee.
